Background
Dr. Richard Peter Vankleek Pattee, born 1850 in Vankleeck Hill, married Sarah Amelia Johnson, born 1852 in Hawkesbury, Ontario. I knew them both. Sarah’s father was Chauncey Junior, born 1811 in Prescott, Ontario, and her grandfather was also Chauncey Johnson, born 1782 in Vermont. In 1825 he moved to Canada. His father was Eden Johnson, born in Vermont in 1750, moved to Hawkesbury and in 1809 and while chasing a deer he fell through the ice on the Ottawa river and was drowned. His father was Capt. John Douglas Johnson, born in 1730 and fought in the Revolutionary War, and his father was Cast. Obedial Johnson, born in 1702 in Canterbury, Conn. He was lieutenant and later captain, and served in the French and Indian War. His father was also Obediah Johnson, born in 1664 in Woburn, Mass. And now comes John Johnson, born in 1635 in Canterbury, England and died in Canterbury, Conn. This line goes back to 1496 in England.
